Frequently Asked Questions

The verification cassette needs to be run at the beginning of every new session of using the instrument.

This really depends on how frequently the instrument is used. As a rule of thumb, MBA recommends using a cleaning cassette weekly with frequent use.

Detailed instructions on how to download data can be found in your MICT User Manual under "Appendix 1: The MICT File Transfer Utility and Software Installer."

You can create a service printout by changing the print format setting in the "Systems set-up" menu under #5 Print Format. Once you change the print format, go back to "Data" and browse for the test results in question, select the appropriate test result(s) and print them out.

MBA does not specialize in sample collection, but the best guideline we can offer is from Novozymes A/S. Click here to download their PDF covering sample collection.

The serial number for the MICT instrument can be found on the back of the MICT and will look like this: "2N5xxxxx".

The lot number of a test is available on the labelled pouch, assay kit-box, as well as on the label of the cassette.

The firmware version is indicated on the opening screen during the startup process of the instrument, and available under the "Systems set-up" button.

Always run the verification one more time. If the failure repeats, contact customer service. There are different possible causes of verification failures. For example, "Noise Fail, Accuracy Pass" indicates that the MICT values and FIT values are accurate. Noise failure can be attributed to the following:

  1. Contamination on the cassette strip. Clean the strip gently with a Kim wipe.
  2. A noise source, such as an operating centrifuge, or operators moving things on the bench next to the instrument. Turn these instruments off or relocate the instrument.
  3. Contamination of the MICT sensor. Use a cleaning cassette before re-testing the verification cassette.

The reportable range is from 0.1 ng/mL to 20 ng/mL, unless indicated differently (some assays go up to 30 ng/mL). When the measured concentration is outside this range, the sample needs to be diluted 10X and a new cassette needs to be used to detect the concentration which will now be corrected by the dilution factor.
